Pair of Inubako
- A pair of Inubako is traditionally used as good-luck equipment for women when they get married or celebrate the girl's day in March. Inubako is a box, which looks like a human face and has a dog’s body. Inu means a dog, and bako is a box. "筥" and ”箱” of Chinese charactors are almost the same meaning, and you can read "hako" and "bako" differently depending on a situation in Japanese. Dogs are the symbol of an easy delivery, hvaing a lot of babies at once and puppies will be growing up with good health, so they used it to decorate at new family’s home.
Parents used it to put a good-luck charm into the right girl's dog, and also put cosmetics into the left boy's dog. These days, a pair of Inubako is sent to celebrate the wedding and the girl's day.
